Tree Maps demonstrate the proportions in data
A Treemap is a method of visualizing hierarchical data in a 2D tree structure by using nested rectangles with varying dimensions and colours.
The logic behind the tree-like structure is that data is organised into branches and sub-branches, represented by rectangles, the dimensions and plot colors of which are calculated based on the quantitative variables associated with each rectangle. Therefore, each rectangle represents two numerical values and can be drilled down to any number of levels within the data. The change in colours and shapes allows the user to acertain difference between categories and data values with ease.
